Dear Nick and family,

I don't have words that are adequate to take away the pain of losing a loved one. We must each walk through the valley of the shadow of death with our hand in God's faithful hands.

While I did not know Angie personally, nor she me - I can picture her in my mind quite vividly from school days long past, as I can picture all of you Daunt kids quite well. I offer a heart-felt prayer to our heavenly Father that He will give all of you the inner strength to bear this heavy burden. I pray that He will especially bless Angie's two dear children who must, for a time, walk in a place that seems dark. And I offer you a poem I wrote during a tough time in my life......

R O S E S

I like fresh roses best
hung up-side-down
and drying in a
darkened closet...

for when they rest awhile,
then they shall last forever.

And when my world seems
up-side-down and dark,
I go alone into my closet
and think upon
the Everlasting Promise
crowned with thorns.

Rare is the person who can make you smile anytime you think of them. Angie was such a person. Her big bright smile is how I will always remember her. Our prayers are with her family.

Dearest sweet Angie,

It's me again. Sorry, I can't stay away.

I wanted to let you know that we threw a party for you these past few days. You would have loved seeing everyone there (and there were tons that attended just to see you too!) So many people from every aspect of your short life came to show us how much you've meant to them. But then again, we already knew that because you meant so very much to all of us as well.

It didn't surprise us that so many came to celebrate you with us. It did help to see them all and to hear the memories they shared with us. It still doesn't heal the heartache that rips through us all though. That when all of the hugs and all of the kisses and laughter end, you're still not asleep in your bed next to those precious girls like you're supposed to be when the day is said and done.

I love you so much Angie and I'm not sure I can do this without you really. I just don't know how to. I don't know if I even want to actually. You were my baby sister, but also my best friend in the world as well and I'm not ready to not have you to hold on to any more.

It hurts so much and I'm not sure the pain will ever go away. Please watch over us with all of our family and friends that are now by your side. Make sure that we always do what you would have done, what you would want us to do and what is right. Please baby girl, this might be your toughest job yet. Stick around a while and make sure eh?

From our favorite book:

I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always. As long as I'm living my baby (sister) you'll be!

I love you so much. My gawd I hope you knew that! Shine bright angel, we'll still keep a light on for you.

I had the honor of meeting Angie when she co-taught a Kaleidoscope Vacation Bible School class at my hometown church, Holy Cross in Atlanta. She taught the class with my mother. I will always remember her beautiful smile and cheerful demeanor. I was much younger and I loved Angie for her friendliness and willingness to laugh. I also remember her two beautiful, shy, and playful daughters. Angie and her daughters were a joy to be around. I am shocked and saddened at the news of Angie's passing and am thinking of your family often and praying for God's strength and loving arms to keep you at this difficult time.
